ZIP stands for Zone Improvement Plan.

The Philippines ZIP Code system is a series of four digits that determine a postal code of an area. This system adopted by PhilPost results in mail being more efficiently processed, pre-sorted and delivered to the intended location.

Each district in Metro Manila and each municipal unit in the provincial level has its own corresponding ZIP code.
