The Importance of Connection

6:14 am in Featured, Love and Relationships by Preaching Knight

I had dinner with two friends who were in the testing phase of what could be. They came from different parts of the world but were both exposed to the complexities of culture. They were broadminded and were careful not to rush into something they might regret in the future. Along the course of our meal we came to a point of how to find out if you were meant to be. I pondered and blurted out two significant and vital parts of the “knowing” process. I said you have to primarily connect on two levels of communication, the verbal and the non-verbal. And, as Mr. Covey states, “Begin with the end in mind”. Read the rest of this entry →

Finding that Significant Other…

holding-hands

Many people end up regretting the person they are with because they have allowed emotions to take precedence over what is logical. Stimulation from media and social influence has greatly affected the way we choose a significant other. Many times, our fantasies or ideals surpass or cloud the obvious and plain truth staring right at us. Our constant association and interaction with who we are with become something we often perceive as the one in our dreams. Read the rest of this entry →

Not Evil, Just Wrong – a documentary challenging Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"

10:10 pm in Environment, Featured by Archon Digital

endoftheworld

In response to former US Vice President Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” comes a documentary made to challenge the facts that the world is about to come to an end. “Not Evil, Just Wrong” is a full length documentary featuring scientific evidence along with the economic consequences of making too much of a drastic change to reduce global warming.

The film focuses on several factual errors cited in the eye opening documentary by Al Gore and is said to contain facts which will disprove a lot of Al Gore’s facts.

For Filipinos, witnessing the deadly effects of global warming first hand with the onslaught of typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, we have very little time to debate on what is factual or not. The truth remains the same, the environment is at a very poor state than it was a 100 years back and violent changes are taking place this very moment.

When the time comes for us to see who is right or wrong, it could all be too late. Maybe we are not calling for environmental extremism and to demand that we “freeze” all of civilization’s heavy polluting industries and go back to the dark ages but instead, point industry into the right direction for change. Not drastic change, only change or steps to take pointing towards an inevitable change. Making smarter moves in the direction of being environmentally aware and eventually bring harmony and balance to the planet we all call home.

Documentary Director Escorted Out of Conference for Questioning Gore

The director of “Not Evil, Just Wrong,” Phelim McAleer, gained much publicity after he dared to ask Mr. Gore a question at the Society of Environmental Journalists annual conference. The former Vice President did not answer the questions the organizers deemed inappropriate and had Mr. McAleer’s microphone muted and him escorted him out of the conference. The questions he asked were about a report leading to 9 factual errors on the highly-acclaimed documentary by Al Gore.

9:12 pm in Featured, Politics by Archon Digital

Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero has deferred his much awaited announcement about his political plans for the 2010 elections citing the timeliness of such a political announcement during this period of crisis brought about by the damage wrought by two deadly typhoons.
Chiz Escudero

In a news conference this Monday the Senator, who is most likely to be his party’s standard bearer for the upcoming 2010 elections, said “It’s not right to talk about politics while many of our people are still missing, have no houses to return to and have no food to eat”.

He said members of his party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition, was to meet Monday night not to talk about the party’s plan for the upcoming elections instead discuss a course of action to help ease the plight of those affected by storm Ondoy and typhoon Pepeng.

“It’s not right to talk about politics while many of our people are still missing, have no houses to return to and have no food to eat,” ~ Sen. Escudero.

A website named firedavidletterman.com as well as facebook invites and Ning communities are also spreading viral internet campaigns against the Lateshow host for his jokes on Sarah Palin and her daughter during their trip to New York.

They are calling for a pullout of the advertisers as well as a boycott of anything related to the issue.

Death by Steel Drum and Cement; A Gruesome Fate for Ruby Rose Jimenez and Others

6:23 pm in Featured, News by Archon Digital

It was all too sad to see in the news about the murder and the gruesome fate that befell Ruby Rose Jimenez, sister of former beauty queen turned actress, Rochelle Barrameda as she was positively identified as the body found inside a steel drum filled with concrete and encased in a metal box in Manila Bay waters last Wednesday.

Organized Crime or Institutionalized Crime? “ipapa-drum-kita-pag-tinalo-mo-ako”

In what appears to be a mafia-style execution, or better described by one of my fellow kabayans as pinoy-sindikato-style-type of murder, a complicated case of murder, deceit and trafficking are being explored as possible reasons behind this horrible crime.

Sadly, this incident confirms this as the method of choice syndicates and other lawless elements use in disposing off of people who would prove to be a nuisance to their criminal acts often disguised as legitimate private business or in some cases legitimate government operations.

People who were allegedly nabbed by members of organized crime or even the police and military remain missing to this day, only God knows how many people have met the same fate and are now down in the bay.
